Inside botany, plant physiology is the study of the work, or even physiology, of plants. Fundamental processes like photosynthesis, respiration and transpiration are studied by plant physiologists. These are closely related biochemistry and molecular biology. Julius von Sachs unified the pieces of plant physiology & put the two together as a discipline. His Lehrbuch 500 Botanik was a bible of its instance.
